I have finally got firm evidence that I am NOT the weirdest person in my family! My sister Megan is an art teacher in Durban, South Africa, and is also studying for an art degree. We have always loved tea. As a family we have always loved tea. Now my sister has created the ULTIMATE tribute to tea. She made this kimono from tea-bags. She persuaded a tea company to sell her some bulk teabags, about 9000 of them! She used them to make this dress and another project. I think it’s INCREDIBLE!!!!! what do you think?
She sent me an email describing the process. She did buy some empty bags but still had to dye them.
“I got the teabags new and boiled them up, then dried them- that could take a few days, spread out on the table in front of the fan. The whole house smelt of tea! Then when they were dry I slit the side with a craft-knife and emptied the tea leaves.”
Tea anyone?
This is the other project, a tea bag screen. The two project used a total of 9000 teabags.
